Really awesome interview Nate! And also really happy to see you post again.
Couldn't find a personal email of yours, so decided I would throw this on your blog since that's where you seem most active:
Over the last few months I've been combing through your blog in an attempt to create my own training plan based on Canova/your principles. I'm just your random college kid who never ran in HS, picked up running, fell in love, and found out just how far behind I was compared to everyone who has been running for the last 10 years.
If you have time to look over my rough training plan I made, would be really appreciated it (if you would prefer not to comment on it I completely understand). Training plan is built for the 5k and some XC with a primary goal of going sub 15:30 (or equivalent shape). Focusing a lot on strength because I've been running less than a year w/ my marathon PR (Nov2017) at 2:57 and 5k around mid-low 16 (attempting to break 16 this spring). I already think your 5k alternations are the greatest workout I've ever found. Have a huge love/hate relationship with them.
